Linear Substrata - James Bristow

Linear Substrata - James Bristow
Linear Substrata is an exploration of the foundations of the small Welsh town, Pontypool.
Historically layers build up over time and the once gone history becomes sealed and forgotten. In the town of Pontypool there is a distinct layer beneath the town itself, several basements, cellars and ostensibly some concealed streets lay beneath the current town. Mostly dating back to the early 1800s, these areas now lay defunct, with many of the habitants of Pontypool unaware of this concealed layer.
The aim of the project is to expose these hidden layers of the town and illustrate to the people of Pontypool the hidden layers they walk over day by day.
